This update is nearly two weeks old. Since my last runs, I’ve done these.
- 1/11/16 – 4.12 km
- 3/11/16 – 5 km
- 4/11/16 – 2.5 km
A pretty poor showing really, but I did have a cold. No long run at all.
- 7/11/1 – 7 km
- 11/11/16 – 13.37 km
It seems I need two to three days of no running to do a longer run… 13.37 is up 1.37 from my last long run, which isn’t too shabby. Or 8 miles, which seems a very very long way to me. Today, my hips are slightly protesting, so no running today, and possibly tomorrow, before doing a shortie. I don’t want to build up too far too fast. By Xmas, I’d like to be able to do 15km. I’ve also accepted I sometimes need to retie my laces, and that’s ok. Other times, I might need to shake out a numb little toe, and carrying a fiver note is too much for a garage I passed on the way, and used to fill up my water bottle. Also, running with a slightly leaky bottle and sugar free irn-bru, means my fingers get stained orange. Yeah, I know, I should have taken water.
At around 9-10 kms, I need to eat something. This week, I brought along a few little crackers and ate them around the 10 km mark. It stopped the fluttery feeling in the bottom right of my abdomen, that starts around that point. It’s not hunger, probably nerve twitching, so that’s sorted. Aiming to have some dried mango on hand to take out with me in future on my longer runs.
I have to look at that again though. In two weeks, I RAN nearly 20 miles… I am so proud of me.
